ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. –
The No.2-ranked Barry University women’s tennis team upended Nebraska-Kearney 5-0, Wednesday morning in the Round of 16 at the Women’s Tennis 2010 National Championships from the Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

The Buccaneers swept through doubles play, as the No. 1 team of Barbi Pocza and Yulia Kashelkina defeated K. Messbarger and Duthwaite by the final score of 8-2. Julie Stas and Angie Wershel followed with an 8-3 victory over N. Messbarger and Takahashi. Mia Fiocca and Berit Peterson rounded-out action with a 8-2 win over Bryan and Lester

The Buccaneers wrapped-up the shutout victory with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles. Pocza was a 6-3, 6-1 straight sets winner and Carolione Wendling paced her opponent by the scores of 6-0, 6-0.

Barry advances to the Quarterfinals on Thursday, May 13 against Armstrong Atlantic. The match is set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
