ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. –
The No.9-ranked Hawaii-Pacific women’s tennis team defeated Concordia (NY) 5-1, Wednesday morning in the Round of 16 at the Women’s Tennis 2010 National Championships from the Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

The day began well for the Sea Warriors, claiming victory in each of the three doubles matches. The No. 1 doubles team of Zora Vlckova and Ingrid Cseh secured a hard-earned 8-6 win over Roberts and Oliveira in a back and forth contest. Aleksandra Stankovic and Sandra Wikstrom rallied past the Clippers’ team of Plevako and Ortiz by the score of 8-3 at the No. 2 spot, while the sister duo of Nina and Tinka Mihova shutout the team of Brennan and Xavier, 8-0.

In singles action, the Sea Warriors snagged victory at No. 4 singles by winning 6-0, 6-0 and secured the match with another straight-set 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 doubles. The Clippers, however, registered a win at No. 3 when Yuliya Plevako posted a 6-2, 6-2 match win over Cseh.

With the match secured, the remaining matches went unfinished.

Hawaii-Pacific advances to the Quarterfinals on Thursday, May 13 against California (PA). The match is set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
