St. Peter, Minn. - The Luther College women's tennis team advanced to the second round of the NCAA III National Tennis Tournament after defeating St. Norbert 5-0 this afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. Gustavus Adolphus is hosting the regional tournament.

The Norse jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play. Katy Lindstrom and Fran Fairfield at #3, put the first Norse point on the board, posting an 8-0 victory. They were followed by Katie Nichols and Alana Humpal who tallied an 8-4 victory at #2. Kelsie Allen and Brynne Zinnecker also posted an 8-4 victory at #1.

In singles play, Humpal and Zinnecker won in straight sets at #5 and #4 respectively, securing the first round victory. Humpal defeated Allyson Yankle 6-1, 6-1. Zinnecker posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Anna Reardon.

Luther moves on to the second round of the NCAA III National Tournament and will play Gustavus Adolphus (20-4) tomorrow at noon. The Gustavus Adolphus sports information department will provide live stats for this match.
