Granville, Ohio - The No. 5 seeded and fifth-ranked Denison University Big Red breezed into the third round of the 2010 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship following a 5-0 victory over Wilkes University on Friday morning from Granville, Ohio. The Big Red received a bye into the second round of the tournament and will now face the winner of Friday's second-round match between DePauw and Johns Hopkins.

Denison set the tone in doubles play, making short work of the Wilkes Colonels by taking all three points. At No. 2 doubles, Erin Chadwell (Chicago, Ill./Traverse City Central) and Kara Zdanowski (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) blanked Alexis Donner and Katrina Lynn, 8-0 and at No. 3, the duo of Alex Marcell (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy) and Jane Lent (Glenview, Ill./Cranbrook-Kingswood) also posted an 8-0 victory. Minutes after the completion of second and third doubles, Marta Drane (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill) and Kristin Cobb (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) dispatched Melanie Nolt and Victoria Bybel, 8-1, sending the match into single play where DU would get straight sets wins from Cobb and Chadwell to lock up the win.

At No. 4 singles, Chadwell blanked Donner, 6-0, 6-0 to pick up her 13th win of the season. Cobb provided the clinching victory at No. 2 single with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lynn. The win improves Cobb's singles mark to 16-8.

Denison moves to 17-4 with the win and it sets up a meeting with either No. 9, DePauw or No. 15, Johns Hopkins on Saturday at 12 p.m. from the Denison Tennis Courts in Granville, Ohio.
