Lynn gets sweep of North Alabama
Fighting Knights improve to 23-2
BOCA RATON, Fla. – No. 3 Lynn University swept North Alabama 5-0 in the NCAA Division II South Region Semifinal at the Perper Tennis Complex. The Fighting Knights improve to 23-2.
Highlighted by an 8-0 victory by fourth-ranked Eleonora Iannozzi and Ioana Ivan against Victoria Rees and Bruna Vieira at No. 1 doubles, Lynn jumped out to an early 3-0 lead entering singles competition. The Fighting Knights also got an 8-1 victory by Jessica Yanoff and Andrea Berkova versus Lenka Hola and Teresa Franco in the third position, while No. 5 Magdalena Ekert and Isabell Raich defeated Mackenzie Bishop and Madison Patey at No. 2 doubles by an 8-3 score.
Ekert and Iannozzi clinched the victory for the Fighting Knights with singles wins at the first and second spots, respectively. Ekert was the first to finish with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Rees and Iannozzi won by identical 6-1 scores versus Bishop. The Fighting Knights won the first set and were up in the second in all four matches that went unfinished.
