ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The quest for a seventh national title will have to wait another day for Lynn as inclement weather postponed its national championship match against Barry. The teams will now meet on Sunday, May 15 at 9:20 a.m. ET.
At the time of delay, Lynn and Barry were scoreless with the Fighting Knights ahead in all three doubles matches. Play will resume Sunday morning with the same scores before the stoppage.
With the Fighting Knights on top, the clouds opened up and Sanlando Park was soaked at 2:21 p.m. As the rain hit, Lynn was leading 5-4 at No. 1 doubles, 7-3 in the second position and 6-2 at No. 3.
Following an nearly 90-minute weather delay, players returned to the court and got in two points before weather stopped the match one again at 3:59 p.m. Lynn’s top tandem of Eleonora Iannozzi and Ioana Ivan were able to extend its lead to 6-4.
