Barry blasts Oklahoma Christian
Buccaneers go undefeated in doubles play
MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- No. 2 Barry cruised in an 8-1 win against Oklahoma Christian on Sunday.
The Buccaneers (13-0) won all three doubles matches to jump out to a comfortable lead entering singles play. Barry used a new lineup for doubles.
Cristina Valladares and Mona Mansour won, 8-4 against Hermon Brhane and Lucie Sipkova at No. 1. Vojka Lukic and Julie Stas defeated Gabriella Carillo and Marta Contel, 8-3 at No. 2. Linda Fritschken and Caroline Wendling beat Andi Contantinescu and Maryfer Abreu Roman, 8-2 at No. 3.
Lukic beat Brhane, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. No. 47 Fritschken defeated No. 13 Sipkova, 6-2, 6-3. Constantinescu beat No. 48 Valladares, 6-2, 7-5 at No. 3.
At No. 4, Wendling beat Carillo by identical 6-2 scores in straight sets. After having to wait for a court to open up, Mansour defeated Contel, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5. In the final singles match, Krohnen beat Abreu Roman, 6-3, 6-3.
