Cougars own doubles, 3-0 while only losing four games
DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- No. 7 Columbus State dropped just one match as they defeated North Georgia 8-1 on Thursday.
The Lady Cougars (18-0, 8-0 PBC) had no trouble in doubles action dropping just four games in three matches. At first doubles, Paola Cigui and Milica Tomic losing one game as they defeated Natalia Escobar and Juliana Chiang 8-1.
Olivera Jokic and Carolin Weikard teamed up at second doubles to take down Jordan Poole and Audrey Marlette 8-2. The Lady Cougar duo of Renata Paiva and Andrea Redrado breezed past Nela Handac and Maria Romero 8-1 at third doubles.
In singles play, 10th-ranked Cigui took down Escobar 6-0, 6-2 at first singles. North Georgia (6-10, 1-4) recorded its only victory of the day at second singles as Chiang upset No. 49 Weikard 2-6, 6-4, 10-7. Tomic got CSU back in the win column at third singles defeating Marlette 6-3, 6-3.
Jokic stayed perfect at fourth singles as she upped her season record to 15-0 after she blanked Poole 6-0, 6-0. Redrado lost just two games in the first set as she bested Handac 6-2, 6-0 at fifth singles. In the final match of the day Sandra Jung took down Romero 6-1, 6-0.
