Lynn rallies past No. 24 Fla. Tech
Fighting Knights take six out of eight doubles points
MELBOURNE, Fla. -- After losing in two out of the three doubles matches, No. 4 Lynn rallied to defeat No. 24 Florida Tech 6-3 on Friday in Sunshine State Conference play.
In a close match, the No. 3 duo of Ioana Ivan and Sabine Krause posted an 8-6 win for Lynn (14-3, 6-1) against the Panther’s No. 12 team of Katarina Huba and Kristina Huba in the top doubles flight.
Lynn then fell in second and third doubles as Andrea Berkova and Kim Przeszlowski lost 9-7 to Abigail Greif and Stephanie Dohner, while Roxane Alexandru and Aleks Vukadinovic went down 8-6 in the third doubles flight to Monica Price and Abbey Keister.
Three singles matches went to third sets but the Fighting Knights amassed wins in five of the six singles matches.
Lynn’s No. 3 Ivan dropped No. 19 Kristina Huba 6-0, 1-6, 6-4 in the top doubles flight while No. 40 Krause topped Katarina Huba in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
At the third doubles flight, Przeszlowski amassed a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Price and then No. 18 Berkova went three sets against Grief in a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win.
Alexandru played at No. 5 for Lynn and defeated Dohner 6-4, 6-2 as Vukadinovic fell in the first set 6-7 but then blanked Keister 6-0 in set No. 2. Keister, however, pulled out a 6-4 win in set three to conclude the match.
