EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – Katie Lynn picked up two wins, including a 6-0, 6-1 single victory, en route to being named the 2012 Freedom Conference tournament Most Valuable Player as Wilkes defeated Misericordia 5-0 to win its sixth consecutive conference crown and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA championships.

The Lady Colonels move their unbeaten streak to 19 matches following the victory. Lynn’s win came against the Cougars Breanne Phillips, stretching her combined tournament record to 4-0. She also paired with Melanie Nolt at No. 1 doubles to defeat Michelle Cameron and Phillips 8-2.

The Lady Colonels (19-0) continued their strong start on the doubles side as Ally Kristofco and Alexis Donner defeated Misericordia’s Emily Hullings and Emily Gherghel 8-1 at two and Anna Mitchell and Ana English earned an 8-0 win against Cassie Foy and Emily Boro at three.

Lynn wasted little time capturing her win at No. 2 singles before Nolt clinched the match and title with a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Cameron at No. 1.
