LAKELAND, Fla. -- No. 5 Barry had to battle No. 17 Florida Southern on Saturday for a 6-3 win on the road.

Barry improved to 3-0 overall, 2-0 in the Sunshine State Conference.

Barry's Emma Onila, Akemi Maehama and Karina Goia each won two matches to remain unbeaten this season. Onila beat Christine Nunnemann 6-0, 6-3, at No. 3 singles. Maehama beat Laura Wichmann 6-0, 6-1. Goia defeated Victoria Spagnuolo 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.

Onila and Elisabeth Abanda defeated 12th-ranked Sabine Goge and Magda Riutort 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Maehama and Goia beat Crystal Copeland and Wichmann 8-6 at No. 3 pairs.

Riutort, ranked No. 11 in singles, pushed Abanda to a third-set super tiebreaker before handing Abanda her first loss 3-6, 6-3, 12-10 at No. 1 singles. Goge, ranked 35th, beat No. 19 Linda Fritschken 0-6, 6-1, 7-5 in another battle.

Fritschken and Kimmy Twelker defeated Nunnemann and Spagnuolo 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
