No. 5 Hawaii Pacific remains undefeated with 5-4 win against No. 10 West Florida

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – No. 5 Hawaii Pacific (6-0) continued its strong start to the spring season, defeating No. 10 West Florida (5-3) 5-4. The victory marks the fourth consecutive win against a nationally ranked opponent.

The Sea Warriors jumped out to a commanding 3-0 lead after doubles action after sweeping all three matches. Vivian Hansen and Magdalena Smejova stayed hot defeating their opponents 8-5. Lea Kruse-Utermann and Karen Ramirez downed Luiza Sonnervig and Mariana Sonnervig 8-4, while the duo of Celina Goetti and Ielyzaveta Rybakova topped Fernanda Amaral and Giovana Patitucci 8-6.

The Argonauts put up a fight in singles action winning four matches, but Karen Ramirez and Smejova won the two matches the Sea Warriors needed to secure the victory. Ramirez won her third singles match 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 while Smejova won 6-3, 5-7,6-0.
