No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic recovers from first loss with win against No. 8 Lynn
BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Top-ranked and defending NCAA Division II national champion Armstrong Atlantic notched a 5-0 win at No. 8 Lynn on Sunday afternoon at the Perper Tennis Complex.
Armstrong improved to 15-1 on the season, rebounding from its first loss of the season, while Lynn fell to 11-2 on the season.
The Pirates notched all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead heading into singles play. The top-ranked doubles duo of Aleksandra Filipovski and Barbora Krtickova defeated No. 3 Val Confalonieri and Ioana Ivan 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, while the No. 6-ranked duo of Marlen Hacke and Olga Kalodzitsa blanked Alina Jane and Ana Kriz 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. Clara Perez and Natasa Vukovic completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win against Kim Przeszlowski and Aleks Vukadinovic at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, the Pirates notched wins at No. 4 singles with No. 14 Hacke downing Przeszlowski 6-1, 6-1 and No. 33 Perez beating Jane 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. The other singles matches were not completed.
