URBANA, Ill. -- Khunpak Issara and Lorraine Guillermo of Pepperdine opened the 2013 NCAA Doubles Championship with a convincing straight-set win at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex. The duo is just one win away from gaining ITA All-American status for a consecutive season.

Issara and Guillermo went up against Virginia’s Stephanie Nauta and Li Xi.

The Wave tandem put away a 6-2 triumph in the opening frame before riding an early break of serve to a 6-1 win in the second.

It was Issara and Guillermo’s 12th consecutive win, but first in more than a month after a change in the doubles lineup placed them with different teammates.

Pepperdine continues the doubles championship Friday in the Round of 16 versus Brynn Boren and Kata Szekely of Tennessee.
