GVSU freshman earns first-place

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Laker men's track and field team competed in the final day of the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind. on Saturday (Jan. 29). Logan Hoffman earned Grand Valley State a first place finish in the 400-meter dash. GVSU will travel to Saginaw, Mich. next Friday (Feb. 4) to compete in the SVSU vs. GVSU Duel Meet beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Hoffman, the freshman from Fort Wayne, Ind. crossed the finish line with a time of 49.75-seconds, while Steaphon Harris finished ninth (50.84) and Eric Lowe 12th (50.98).
In the 200-meter dash, freshman Bret Myers crossed the finish line fourth with a time of 23.07-seconds. Mohamed Mohamed claimed a 10th place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.45, followed by Larry Julson in 12th (1:59.25) and Jimmy McKeiver in 14th (1:59.64). In the 800-meter invitational run, Eric Phillips crossed the finish line fifth with a time of 1:54.16.
In the field events, Aaron Dewberry earned a third place finish in the long jump invitational section with a jump of 23'2.5". Matt Armstrong placed fifth in the men's shot put invitational with a distance of 53'0.25", while Donny Stiffler earned a seventh place finish (52'10.75").
