KENT, Ohio — No. 7 Findlay completed the Golden Flash Tune-Up on Saturday afternoon.
The 4×400-meter relay team of Shawnathan Fort, Curtis Smithey, John Guagenti and Tim Sanders took first with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 3:14.39. Individually, Guagenti finished first in the 200-meter dash with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 21.86, Fort took third in the 400-meter dash with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 49.28, and Sanders placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.41.
In other running events, Joe Guerra took first in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:32.15, while Dillon Webster placed second in the 800-meter run with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:53.44.
In the field field events, Derrick Vicars had a solid day with a school record, NCAA automatic qualifying heave of 61’04.00 to take first in the shot put, and placed first in the weight throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 63’05.50.
Cory Vales took first in the high jump with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 7’01.00, while Shane Shockey’s NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 16’04.75 earned him a first place finish in the pole vault.
