UNO earns two firsts at Iowa State

AMES, Iowa — The UNO track and field team earned two first place finishes in competiton at the Iowa State Open on Saturday at the Lied Recreation Center.

On the track, Anja Puc earned first place in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:52.46. She edged out Iowa State’s Kersten Thorgaard by just over a second.

In the field, Nkeiruka Domike picked up first place in the triple jump with a leap of 42-8.

In the shot put, Heather Minssen took third place with a throw of 46-5 1/4. In the high jump, freshman Kathie-Lee Laidley was fifth at 5-5.

The Mavs are back in action at the Jack Jennett Invitational at Northern Iowa next weekend.
