Lewis repeats as GLVC champs

KENOSHA, Wis. – Lewis University brought championship hardware home for the second consecutive season, as the Flyers scored 157 points on their way to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Championship title.

Lewis senior Kathryn Hague was victorious in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:04.49, while sophomore Kamille Ferguson captured the 55-meter hurdles title by crossing the finish line in 8.55. Junior Karissa Hoffman rounded out the winners for the Flyers with a first-place leap of 37-1 1/4 in the triple jump.

Junior Julie Jarrett earned a second-place finish of 2:16.36 in the 800-meter run, while freshman Samantha McGaha was a runner-up in the long jump (17-8).

Following the meet, Lewis head women’s track and field coach Dana Schwarting was selected as the GLVC Coach of the Year, while pentathlon winner Megan Marchildon was named the Co-Freshman of the Year.
