CLINTON, N.Y. — No. 2 Williams competed at Hamilton on Saturday against Rochester, Oneonta, Narareth, Roberts Wesleyan, Union, RIT and Hamilton.
In the field events, Jenna Adams won the pole vault and improved her season best to 3.50m. Tanasia Hoffler won the long jump, 5.10m and Karyn Moss placed second, 4.84m. Eileen Becker won the shot put with a throw of 11.91m.
Amina Avril placed third in the event with a throw of 11.31m. In the weight throw, Kathryn Evans placed third with a mark of 13.49m. This new personal best qualified Evans for New England Championships.
In the sprints, Williams swept the top three places in the 400-meters. Maya Harakawa won with a time of 1:00.11. Her victorious time qualified her for ECAC championships. Next to cross the finish line was Amanda Murashige in 1:01.11 followed by Rebecca Fine in 1:01.27.
Both these times qualified for the New England championships. Dianna Mejia ‘ placed sixth from the second heat with a time of 1:03.49. Murashige also placed second in the 200-meters with a time of 27.14. Haley Stewart was close behind in 27.37.
Both these times were New England qualifiers. Stewart also competed in the 60-meters, finishing sixth in the finals with a time of 8.29. Hoffler won the 60-meter hurdles in 9.43.
While most of the distance and middle distance squad did not race this weekend, there were still some stellar performances from those who did. Louisa Lee battled Erin LaFave of RIT for the top spot in the 3000m.
Lee ended up with a time of 10:40.87, which qualified her through ECAC championships and was just .06 seconds from winning the event. Adrienne Strait won the 1,000m with a time of 3:12.33, which qualified her for the New England championships.
