Mahoney garners four titles to help Mount Union three-peat as OAC champ
ADA, Ohio -- Mount Union won its third consecutive and fourth overall Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field title Saturday at Ohio Northern.
The Purple Raiders recorded an OAC-record 214 points, which was 112 points ahead of second-place Ohio Northern and Otterbein.
Mount Union junior Mary Mahoney claimed OAC Sprint Athlete of the Meet honors for a consecutive year as she won three individual titles and one relay title.
Mahoney set OAC records, winning the 60 meter dash (7.75) and 400 meters (55.53), and was one-one hundreth of a second away from another record in the 200 meters (25.01).
Mahoney was also part of the winning and record-setting 4x200 relay team with sophomore Taylor Coghlan, freshman Veronica Clutter and Lisa Brasdovich with a time of 1:43.62.
Another school record was set in the distance medley relay as the team of junior Emily Mazzaferri, senior Daryn Herman, freshman Caitlin Nagy and sophomore Brooke Benner placed second and earned all-conference honors with a time of 12:21.99.
Clutter also claimed the long jump title with a mark of 18-1.
Sophomore Courtney Reese and Herman finished 1-2 in the 500 meters.
Junior Emily Mazzaferri won the 800 meters (2:17.36).
Reese, Herman, Brasdovich and Brasdovich won the 4x400 meter relay (4:03.60).
Sophomore Carly Stock was second in shot put (42-5.25) and placed third in the weight throw (47-10.5).
Freshman Brooke Rayokovich placed third in the pole vault (10-4.25) while fellow freshman Jocelyn Sefick was second in the triple jump (34-10.5).
Senior Alyssa Flitcraft was third in the high jump (5-3) while junior Taylor Ruffing was second in the 60 meter hurdles (9.35).
