AUSTIN, Texas – Northern Iowa squad produced two national qualifying performances Saturday at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds. Junior discus thrower Jordan Williams and junior pole vaulter Daniel Gooris earned spots at the NCAA championships with their efforts.

Williams placed fourth overall in the discus with a toss of 58.54m (192’01″). His heave tied his season-best mark set at the MVC Championships.

Gooris, who had already qualified in the decathlon for the NCAA Championships, also earned a qualifying performance in the pole vault with a fifth-place finish. Gooris’s jump of 5.40m (17’8.5″) was a career-high and ranks No. 4 on UNI’s all-time best list in the pole vault.
