UW-Oshkosh strong at invitational
Davis automatically qualifies for outdoor championship in 200m
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- Holly Ozanich won two events in leading UW-Oshkosh at the non-scoring UW-Platteville Invitational on April 9.
Ozanich recorded victories in the hammer throw with a cast of 180 feet-seven inches and the shot put with a heave of 47-3/4 and also finished in third place in the discus with a launch of 132-1. Ozanich previously automatically qualified for the NCAA Division IIII outdoor track and field championship in the hammer throw and the shot put during the first meet of the season.
Camille Davis highlighted the other UW-Oshkosh winners as she automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III outdoor track and field championship in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.36.
The Titans also racked up top honors from Christy Cazzola in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:35.50, Breanna Strupp in the discus with a heave of 147-6, Danielle Carrigan in the pole vault with a height of 12-1 1/2 and Claire Pohlman in the triple jump with a mark of 37-2 1/4.
UW-Oshkosh piled up second-place results from Samantha Loew in the hammer throw with a toss of 169-3, Cassie Petersen in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:23.70, Jecel Gerner in the shot put with a skip of 45-3 3/4, Lisha Hanson in the pole vault with a leap of 11-7 3/4, Kayla Oberstadt in the javelin with a heave of 104-7 and the 400-meter relay quartet of Davis, Hanson, Chelsea Benitz and Ashley Heding in a time of 48.51.
Hanson would take third-place in the 400-meter dash in a time of 58.24 and Sue Trzebiatowski would finish third in the hammer throw with a heave of 168-10.
Brittany Haas took home fourth-place for the Titans in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:48.85 while McKenzie Kelly finished sixth in 4:49:07. The 1,600-meter relay team of Kelly, Kristin Stockheimer, Brittany Haas and Christy Cazzola ran a time of 4:02.72, good for fourth.
The Titans got fifth-place performances from Sadie Sawall in the 100-meter hurdles (15.53), Allison Gehl in the 1,500-meter run (4:49.07), Cassandra Niles in the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.05) and Lindsey Newhauser in the triple jump with a leap of 34-10 1/2.
UW-Oshkosh had sixth place postings from Kelly in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:53.49, Oberstadt in the hammer throw with a fling of 162-10 and Trzebiatowski in the shot put with a cast of 42-2 1/4.
The Titans collected seventh place listings by Breanna Strupp in the hammer throw with a toss of 161-1, Oberstadt in the discus with a mark of 124-9 and Abby Martin in the shot put with a launch of 42-1 1/2.
UW-Oshkosh enjoyed eighth place results from Kaitlin Stockheimer in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:10.71 and Strupp in the shot put with a toss of 41-7 1/4.
