Nebraska closes strong at Relays
Miller sets new record in 1,500 meters to lead Huskers
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska closed competition at the Drake Relays on Saturday as Tipton, Iowa, native Ashley Miller won the 1,500 meters with a Drake Relays record-breaking time.
Miller won the event with a time of 4:15.61. With the mark she broke the Drake Relays 1,500 meters record, previous set last year by Stephanie Morgan of Illinois at 4:15.90. Miller currently ranks fifth in the nation in the event. Jessica Furlan finished the event with a time of 4:41.10.
Anna Weigandt finished second in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 42-9 1/2 (13.04), bettering her previous best of 41-4 1/2 (12.61). Mara Griva took fourth with a season-best jump of 42-5 1/2 (12.94).
Victoria Zimmerman finished sixth in the hammer throw, recording a mark of 191-6 (58.37), while Jade Siegel finished 13th with a throw of 178-2 (54.31).
