Lincoln (Mo.) reclaims top spot in coaches' poll after winning MIAA crown
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Fresh off winning its third consecutive MIAA championship, Lincoln (Mo.) is once again the No. 1 team in the country in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II poll, released on Tuesday.
The Blue Tigers lead a group of four teams that all received more than 200 points in the women's poll, with the LU women narrowly surpassing Grand Canyon for the top overall ranking. Lincoln received 241.51 points this week, eight more points than Grand Canyon (233.50 points), to become the top team after spending last week ranked No. 2. The Academy of Art (207.89) and Grand Valley State (203.17) were ranked No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while Adams State garnered 143.99 points to round out the top five.
Lincoln leads three ranked MIAA teams, tying for the second-most programs representing one conference. At No. 14, Central Missouri (56.72) is the MIAA's next-highest ranked team while Pittsburg State, which was the runner-up at last weekend's conference championships, earned 49.45 points to be ranked No. 23.
