No. 5 Nazareth cruises at AVI Invite

Gimello totals a combined 19 kills for Golden Flyers

GREENVILLE, Pa. — No. 5 Nazareth posted two more victories Sunday during the second day of the AVI Invitational hosted by Thiel.

The Golden Flyers swept Stevenson and Eastern Mennonite in three sets each to remain perfect on the weekend at 4-0 and to extend their overall record to 6-3. Nazareth defeated Stevenson by scores of 25-19, 25-13, 25-22. The Golden Flyers followed that with set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-11 against Eastern Mennonite.

Against Stevenson (2-4), Alex Houghtalen had 10 kills and seven digs. Billy Gimello, Ellis Walsh and Cole Hutter each tallied eight kills.

EJ Wells-Spicer had 22 assists while Connor Ecklund had 12 assists and seven digs.

In the Eastern Mennonite match, Gimello had 11 kills and Walsh had nine.
