ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- No. 6 Lewis improved to 9-0 at home this year with a 25-22, 25-22, 25-20 sweep of non-conference foe Limestone on Friday.
The Flyers out-hit the Saints .303 to .192. Jay Petty hit .412 with a team-high 10 kills in just two sets of action. His five digs led the Flyers.
A pair of Flyers recorded six kills without a single hitting error. Aaron Flick put together a 6-0-7 line for a .857 hitting percentage. Eric Fitterer hit at a .667 clip on a 6-0-9 line.
“There’s some stuff we’ve been working on in practice and trying to transfer it over into games,” Lewis head coach Dan Friend said. “We did a nice job of that (tonight).”
The first and third set didn’t feature a single lead change.
The second frame had 10 ties and five lead changes. Limestone took a 16-15 advantage with three points in a row. Lewis returned the favor with three consecutive points of their own, forcing the Saints to call a timeout. A Limestone service error and a kill by Geoff Powell gave Lewis the final points in the frame.
Powell finished with seven kills. Scott Warren led Limestone with 14 kills.
Limestone fell to 10-7 while Lewis improved to 17-4.
