CROOKSTON, MN – On the road against a conference opponent for the first time this fall, the University of Minnesota Duluth kept its perfect record intact with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-22) sweep over the University of Minnesota Crookston Friday night. The Bulldogs have now rattled off ten consecutive wins to start the 2010 campaign, and are off to a 2-0 start in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.
No. 4 UMD (10-0) was led on offense by senior middle blocker Alyssa Nelson, who hit .391 and racked up 11 kills. Fellow senior Jamie Lakatos was close behind, as she finished with 10 kills and hit .444.
The Bulldogs came out of the gates a little slow in the opening game, but were able to get the wheels turning on offense midway through the set. Junior setter Eleena Iisakka picked up 40 assists as she led UMD to a collective attack percentage of .263. The Golden Eagles’ attack caused more harm than good Friday evening, as their attackers combined to hit -.011, the lowest total by any Bulldog opponent this season.
