The Golden Lions took another 3-0 straight set victory in 2010 on Thursday, this time at the expense of the Caldwell College Cougars in the NCAA DII East Region Championship at Dowling Gymnasium. Dowling, who improves to 28-1 on the season and advances to the second round versus Adelphi University tomorrow at 7:30 PM, handed the Cougars their 8th loss of the year to end their season at 24-8.

Patrycja Klekotka led the way for Dowling, tallying 14 kills off .480 hitting while also adding 2 service aces and 5 digs. Maja Potpara was next in line with 9 kills and 23 assists including 5 aces of her own. Amber Mosher of Caldwell led her team by slamming down 10 kills for the Cougars.

Dowling started off the first set with a .406 team hitting percentage, overtaking Caldwell with a 25-19 final. The Cougars made it a closer set in the second, but the Golden Lions were able to edge out the 25-22 victory. Dowling followed that up with their most convincing win of the day, earning a 25-16 win to take the match.

Dowling next faces Adelphi University in the 2nd round of the NCAA DII Championship. Adelphi defeated C.W. Post in 5 sets later in the night to advance to the next round.
