The #17 Emporia State volleyball
team could not overcome a strong defensive effort from #9 Central
Missrouri. The Hornets were outhit .220 to .167 in the 22-25, 25-20,
22-25 and 15-25 loss to the regional host.
Paige Vanderpool had a double-double finishing with 12
kills and adding 13 digs to lead ESU. Ting Liu had her second
double-double of the post-season finishing with 40 assists and 15 digs.
Meg Schwartz averaged 6.75 digs per set during the post season and
finished with 22 digs after having 32 in the first round. Brianne
Bonner followed up her career high 22 kills performance in the first
round with 12 kills and added eight digs.
Katelyn Kaiser again led the Hornets in blocks finishing
with five on the evening and also added eight kills hitting a team high
.318. Morgan Buckner had four kills hitting .250 primarily playing in
the fourth set for the Hornets. Katelyn Schmidtberger added seven kills
to the effort.
The Hornets were playing without Brittney Miller, who was
out for the season after sustaining a knee injury on the first play
against Washburn on Nov. 13.
The Hornets finish the season 23-10 and reached the NCAA
South Central Regional semi-finals for the third time in the last four
years.
