- Relentless play earned the Dowling Volleyball team their second straight East Region Championship with a 3-0 victory (25-23, 25-19, 25-17) over the University of Bridgeport. With the win, the Golden Lions will now travel to Louisville, KY for the NCAA DII Quarterfinals on December 2nd.

Patrycja Klekotka led the way for Dowling with 9 kills and a .438 hitting percentage including 5 digs and 4 service aces. Monika Kasperek-Szulc and Maja Potpara each slammed down 8 kills in the effort as well. Agatha Baliddawa of Bridgeport led both teams with 16 kills.

This marked the fourth meeting between the two teams in 2010, with Dowling holding a 2-1 edge, most recently defeating the Purple Knights in the East Coast Conference Championship match, 3-0.

The Purple Knights, who advanced to the East Region final after defeating the University of New Haven on Friday, kept it close in the first set, but Dowling was able to sneak by with a 25-23 victory. An impressive display of .429 hitting in the second set helped Dowling take a 25-19 win over Bridgeport, who hit .308. The Golden Lions jumped out to an early lead in the third, ultimately taking the set and earning the match victory with a 25-17 final.

Dowling, now 30-1 on the season, awaits word on their next opponent that they will face at the Final Four.
