No. 10 Hawaii sweeps Arizona

HONOLULU – No. 10 Hawaii swept Arizona on Sunday to win the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational.

The Rainbow Wahine topped the Wildcats 25-12, 25-16, 25-20 and improved to 3-0 while Arizona dropped to 2-1.

The ‘Bows, who won their fourth consecutive tournament title, were led by Kanani Danielson’s match-high 11 kills. Chanteal Satele posted 10 kills for a .588 attack percentage. Emily Hartong and Jane Croson each added seven kills.

Curtsy Jackson recorded a team-high nine kills for Arizona.

Hawaii controlled the match throughout. The ’Bows raced out to a 14-5 advantage on block assists by Mita Uiato (32 assists) and Brittany Hewitt (6 kills, 4 blocks) as UH ran away with the first set.

Hawaii recorded the first five points in the second set to spearhead a 25-16 victory, then completed the sweep with a 25-20 win in set three. The ‘Bows went on a 6-0 run midway through the final set to seal the win.

Rainbow Wahine players Emily Hartong, Brittany Hewitt, and Kanani Danielson were selected to the all-tournament team with Danielson named most outstanding player.
