The New York University women's volleyball swept Baruch College 30-10, 30-18, 31-29 in the first round of the NCAA Division III New York Regional Championship on Thursday, November 10. The regional is being hosted by NYU at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center.

The Violets, ranked #4 in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Poll, improved to 33-7 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight year. Senior Jennifer Gardikas recorded a "double-double" (15 kills/15 digs) to lead the Violets, who are seeded #1 in the New York Region. Freshman Katie Cadden registered 10 kills for NYU, while senior Katya Khmelnitskaya had 36 assists, nine kills and seven digs. Freshmen Christiana Molina and Caitlin Grundman totaled five kills each, while fellow freshman Sarah Ansley registered seven digs. The Bearcats (17-18), seeded #8 in the region, were led by Taisiya Zuyeva (six kills). Safia Mian set nine assists, while Fior Ulloa added five kills. NYU returns to action on Friday, November 11, when they face #4 seed Stevens Institute of Technology. Stevens defeated Vassar College 3-2 in the first match of the New York Regional. First serve for the match between the Violets and the Ducks will commence at 7:00 pm.
