NEW YORK, N.Y. - Senior outside hitter Danielle Turner (Farmingville/Sachem) and junior outside hitter Daina Marsh (North Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse) each recorded 10 kills as Cortland swept Eastern Connecticut State, 30-26, 30-23, 30-17, in the opening round of the NCAA Division III women's volleyball playoffs at New York University.

Cortland (32-7), making its 19th NCAA tournament appearance, will face Ithaca College, a 3-0 winner versus New Jersey City University, in regional semifinal action Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Turner finished with 10 kills and 11 digs, while Marsh had 10 kills, five aces and four digs. Senior setter Lizz Rakita (Lake Grove/Sachem) dished out 39 assists in addition to recording four kills, three aces and seven digs. Freshman Tiffany Chatman (Watertown) added nine kills and two blocks.

Senior outside hitter Lauren Nels (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) had eight kills and six digs and sophomore middle hitter Alice Kahrs (Kings Park) registered four kills and four blocks. Freshman libero Kate Gosman (East Northport/Elwood John Glenn) finished with 17 digs.

Cortland posted team hitting percentages of .190 in the first game and ..182 in the second game, then exploded to hit .314 in the third game.
