The University of Bridgeport Purple Knights defeated the U-Mass Lowell Riverhawks 3-0 in the first round of the  NCAA East Regional.

Bridgeport took a 25-12 victory in the first set of the match.  Agatha Baliddawa and Terry Masava each led the Purple Knights offensively with 4 kills.  The Riverhawks were led by Jillian Hadder with 2 kills and Allie Eide with 5 digs.

In the second set Bridgeport again claimed a victory, this time 25-16.  Agatha Baliddawa was a dominating force for the Purple Knights with 7 kills in the set.  U-Mass Lowell led by Sarah Coscia with 4 kills.

The third and final set resulted in a Purple Knight 25-22 victory.  The set featured 7 tie scores and 2 led changes as the Riverhawks fought hard to avoid elimination, but the Purple Knight combination of Juliana Moraes and Agatha Baliddawa was to much to over come.

The Riverhawks were led by Jillian Hadder with 8 kills and the Purple Knight were led by Agatha Baliddawa with 16 kills

Bridgeport next plays the winner of the New Haven / Pace match-up at 5:00 PM tomorrow.
