OAKDALE, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball traveled to Oakdale, New York to compete in the program's first ever NCAA Regional Semifinal on Friday, November 19 against top seeded and host Dowling College. The Panthers put together some impressive stretches of play, but could not seem to get comfortable, falling 3-0 and finishing the 2010 season with an overall record of 20-12.

The host Golden Lions jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first set and got as close as five, 13-8, before falling 25-19 in set one. Adelphi battled Dowling early in game two, keeping things tight as a Hilary Pavels kill pulled the Panthers, within one, 6-5. Adelphi kept it tight, trailing just three, 13-10, when a 6-0 Dowling burst sent the Golden Lions on to a 25-14 set two victory.

Dowling again pushed out to an early lead in set three, taking a nine point advantage, 12-3. Adelphi kept pushing in the final set, but ultimately succumbed to the Golden Lions, 25-14.

For the final time in her collegiate career Pavels led the Panthers in kills with seven and chipped in eight digs. Fellow senior Heather Mau had 18 assists and nine digs, while Bree Popham added 13 digs for the Panthers.

Adelphi closed out the 2010 season with the programs fourth 20-win season in a row, and a fourth straight NCAA appearance.
