No. 5 Eastern bounces back
After loss to Emory, Eagles dominant in home-opener victory
ST. DAVIDS, Penn.-- No. 5 Eastern returned to St. Davids to win its home opener against conference opponent Delaware Valley on Wednesday night.
The Eagles defeated the Aggies in three sets 25-10, 25-14, 25-16.
Senior setter Maria Horning continued to facilitate the team's offense with efficiency, recording 35 assists.
Courtney Reinhold was solid on her attacks, converting 12 kills on 16 attempts with no errors. Lauren Sproles posted a .692 hitting percentage, going 9 for 13 on total attacks.
Kearby Benak led the Eagles in digs with 12 and in service aces with four. The Eagles' servers scored 12 aces in the match, 11 more than Delaware Valley.
As a team, the Eagles finished with a .421 hitting percentage.
After last weekend's loss to No. 4 Emory, the Eagles retained their No. 5 ranking. They host a tri-match Saturday against Franklin & Marshall College and Moravian College.
