Mitchell leads Beavers in win with 11 kills, .526 percentage
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- No. 3 seed Maine-Farmington ousted No. 6 seed Green Mountain 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-17) in the first round of the North Atlantic Conference tournament on Saturday.

The Beavers (14-9) advance to the NAC Championship Round at Colby-Sawyer College next weekend. UMF will face No. 2 Maine Maritime Academy (22-4) in the semifinals Friday. The Eagles finished their season at 5-16.
Shannon Mitchell led UMF with 11 kills and a .526 hitting percentage (11-1-19), while Jen Vadnais provided seven kills in 15 error-free attempts (.467) and Whitney Walls dished out 17 assists. The Beavers' Marina Tello collected a team-best 10 digs with Vadnais adding eight.
The Beavers enjoyed a .423 team hitting percentage (13-2-26) in the opening game and a .321 (12-3-28) in the second set.
Chanleigh Casey paced the Green Mountain attack with six kills followed by Megan O'Keefe with five. Jennifer Serdejko handled the Eagles' setting with 12 assists, while Kara Egan led all players with 12 digs.
