Louisville added two wins against teams in the top 20 this weekend, which led to the increase in votes in the AVCA poll from 216 last week to 710 this week.

The two wins included a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-23) sweep of then-No. 11 Purdue and a 3-2 (25-18, 23-25, 25-17, 22-25, 15-9) route of then-No. 20 Illinois. Previously, the Cards achieved a win against then-No. 10 Kentucky.

Louisville was all but assured to move up in the rankings with an overall record of 8-1 to go in hand with three wins against teams ranked in the top 20. The lone loss for the Cardinals came at the hands of No. 4 Penn State.
