The Knights, ranked second last week, received 17 first-place votes to take over the top spot from Washington (Mo.). It marks the first time since last year that the Knights have been ranked number one. A year ago, Calvin held the number one ranking throughout the entire regular season before falling in the regional final to Wittenberg, finishing the season at 33-1.

Wittenberg holds the No. 2 spot in the latest poll. The Tigers picked up six first place votes to move up from third to second. Previous-No. 1 Washington slipped to third after falling to Emory last weekend.

Calvin is preparing to host an NCAA III Regional Tournament of eight teams this weekend. Of the eight teams, five are nationally-ranked, including four in the top 10. Ranked teams competing in the regional tournament at Calvin include No. 13 Mount Union, No. 10 Otterbein, No. 6 Hope, and No. 2 Wittenberg.
