File this under, “Probably couldn’t have made this if you tried 100 times.”

In a Division III women’s volleyball match between Maryville and Covenant, a Maryville player tried to dig a Covenant spike attempt. It was a valiant effort, but didn’t go quite as planned.

Take a look:

We thought the same thing you did, Covenant Athletics. But no, it does not count as three points. And if it did, who would have been awarded the points? The team that made the basket, or the team that earned the actual volleyball point?

Too confusing. For now, it’s one point, and it goes to Covenant. Regardless, what a fun moment. Basketball season is only a little under two months away.
