LEWISBURG, Pa. -- No. 1 USC moved one game closer to becoming the NCAA National Champions today in game one of the 2005 NCAA Mens Water Polo Championship semifinals, held in Bucknell Universitys Kinney Natatorium, with a 14-8 victory over the No. 4 seed, St. Francis (N.Y.).

The Trojans sprang to an early lead, after leading the Terriers 4-1 in the first quarter, then expanding the lead to 9-4 at the end of the first half. USCs offense slowed down in the next two quarters, as it only outscored St. Francis 5-4.

Thomas Hale led USCs offensive effort with four goals, while Brandon Child and Tommy Corcoran each added two.

For St. Francis, it was Bogdan Petrovic, Moran Stern and Botond Szalma, who each contributed two goals in the loss.

USC will face Stanford for the 2005 title tomorrow at 6 p.m., while St. Francis will battle Loyola Marymount in the consolation game scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in the Kinney Natatorium.
