DAVIS, Calif. – Carmen Eggert scored a game-high three goals on Sunday afternoon, including the decisive two scores in overtime, as No. 17 UC Davis scored the final three goals of the game overall to upend No. 13 Long Beach State 9-7 in a Big West Conference.
Lyndsay Sutterley added two first-half scores for the Aggies, who improved to 17-10 overall while earning their first conference victory (1-2 in the Big West). Ariel Feeney scored with just over a minute left in regulation, helping UC Davis force extra play.
Krizia Cerda scored two goals for Long Beach State.
UC Davis started off the game with a quick start, scoring the first two goals and taking a 3-1 lead after the end of the first period. That lead was further extended in the second period, as the Aggies outscored Long Beach State two to one, taking a 5-2 lead at halftime.
Long Beach State charged back in the second half to close the gap. Lauren Sieprath, Cerda and Julia Garyfallou scored the first three goals in the third period to tie the game at 5-5. The Aggies were able to hold onto the lead, however, as Carey Faber scored with 2:22 left in the period.
In the fourth, Long Beach State’s Chelsea Parks tied the game at the start of the quarter, and the 49ers took their first lead of the game (7-6) at 4:36 when Meaghan Leonard scored. The Aggies tied the game with a score with one minute remaining to force the game into overtime.
