No. 6 Michigan tops No. 20 UCSD

Reitz and Orth notch hat tricks to lead Wolverines to victory

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — No. 6 Michigan knocked off No. 20 UC San Diego, 11-7, on Saturday afternoon at Canyonview Aquatic Center.

Sophomore Alex Adamson and junior Morgan Turner split time in the cage, making five saves apiece. Seniors Cara Reitz and Lauren Orth scored three goals each, and classmate Alison Mantel pulled four steals in the contest.

After battling to a 3-3 deadlock after one period, U-M took the lead for good in the second frame. Leading 6-4 at intermission, the Wolverines outscored UCSD 5-3 in the second half for the 11-7 victory.
