UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State wrestling team has added All-American Andrew Long of Creston, Iowa, to its active roster. Long has joined the team and is eligible to compete immediately for the Nittany Lions, the school announced Monday.

Long, who will be a sophomore and compete at 133 pounds this year, was the 2010 NCAA National Runner-Up at 125 pounds, advancing to the national finals in Omaha for Iowa State. He posted a 27-7 record in 2009-10 on his way to becoming a freshman All-American. He had six majors, four technical falls and seven pins during the season.

Long red-shirted in 2008-09 after a superb high school career that in which he posted a 175-13 record and won three Iowa high school championships.

Penn State returns to action Dec. 29-30 at the Southern Scuffle at North Carolina-Greensboro. Penn State’s next home dual is a nationally televised match-up with No. 21 Pittsburgh on Jan. 21.
