National Wrestling Coaches Association

The NWCA/USA Today Division I Team Coaches Poll for Jan. 18 was released and Cornell remained the unanimous No. 1 team. Rounding out the top five were Penn State, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and Minnesota. 

Iowa moved up to No. 8 after a 15-15 tie in a dual meet with No. 6 Oklahoma State. Boise State and Oklahoma both dropped one place to round out the top 10. 

The top 20 saw some movement this week with Iowa State, Oregon State, Rutgers, Nebraska, Kent State and Northwestern moving up.

Cal Poly makes its debut in this week’s rankings after being unranked, coming in at No. 24.

The NWCA/USA Today Division I Team Coaches Poll Committee is made up of one coach from each conference. A number one ranking is worth 25 points and a number 25 ranking is worth one point.
