EWING, N.J. — The College of New Jersey took advantage of wrestling on its home mat as the Lions swept through the Metropolitan Conference/New England Duals, winning all three dual meets on Saturday. TCNJ also showed its depth in the victories as 12 different Lions garnered wins on the day.
No. 14 TCNJ opened with a 26-12 win against Roger Williams, before topping the United States Coast Guard Academy 39-9. The Lions capped the day facing 30th-ranked Williams and got the better of the Ephs 36-13.
The three wins pushed TCNJ’s winning streak to 12 consecutive meets as the Lions are now 16-1 on the season.
In other scores from the day, Williams beat Hunter 26-22; NYU beat USCGA 23-15; Williams beat NYU 28-16; Roger Williams beat Hunter 29-16; Hunter beat USCGA 27-22; and NYU beat Roger Williams 20-16.
A host of Lions contributed throughout the day as senior Justin Bonitatis led the group by winning all three of his bouts, while five others picked up two wins. Among the top individuals were sophomore Dan Herr, junior Brian Bollette, sophomore John Darling, sophomore Brian Broderick and junior Mike Denver.
