TIFFIN, Ohio -- No. 8 Mount Union took a step closer to an Ohio Athletic Conference title by knocking off five-time defending conference champ Heidelberg 30-12 on Thursday night in Tiffin.
The Purple Raiders won seven of the 10 weight classes to remain perfect in dual matches on the season (12-0, 4-0 OAC).
Sophomore Riki Reynolds started things right for Mount Union as the nation's No. 4 ranked wrestler at 125 pounds produced a pin just 1:03 into his match.
Junior Colin Dennis continued the Raiders strong start as he scored a pin at 133.
No. 9-ranked junior Josh Malave scored a victory at 141 pounds and classmate Kevin Shadrach at 149 recorded a decision to give Mount Union an 18-0 lead.
Heidelberg (9-9-2, 2-2 OAC) rallied as it scored wins in consecutive matches at 157 and 165 pounds and added a pin at 174 to bring the score to 18-12.
Junior Andy Jenkins then righted the ship for the Raiders with a 10-5 win at 184 pounds before No. 4 ranked senior Bill Schindel, a returning All-American, produced a pin at 197 pounds. Derick Hesson then rounded out the team victory with a decision at 285 pounds.
