PINNED DOWN: Missouris Ben Askren pinned Ohio States Charlie Clark in just 39 seconds to help the No. 13 Tigers to a 25-13 victory against the Buckeyes on Dec. 11.

Askren, a junior from Hartland, Wis., is the schools career fall record holder and now has 50 pins all-time. The 174-pounder is 17-0 on the season with 14 of those victories coming by pin. Askren boasts an 83-8 career record and ranked No. 1 in his weight class.

The Tigers are 2-0 in duals this season.

BEDLAM: Oklahoma States Rusty Blackmon pulled off a 6-3 win over 10th-ranked Justin Dyer of Oklahoma in the 174-pound weight class as the top-ranked Cowboys came from behind to defeat the Sooners, 23-12, in front of 7,988 fans on Dec. 9.

Blackmon scored a five-point move by taking down Dyer and putting him on his back. The Cowboys were trailing 12-11 before Blackmons victory put them ahead.

Top-ranked Jake Rosholt beat No. 2 Joel Flaggert, 3-1, at 197 pounds and heavyweight Steve Mocco pinned Jake Hager in 3:41 to seal the Bedlam rivalry victory. DOUBLE TROUBLE: Six wrestlers recorded double victories as No. 20 Hofstra defeated Harvard, 33-12, and Columbia, 36-9, in a pair of dual meets on Dec. 11.

Senior Mike Patrovich, the seventh-ranked wrestler at 174 pounds, pinned both of his opponents with falls over Harvards Wesley Walker and Columbias sixth-ranked Matt Palmer. Patrovich improved his record to 13-1 on the season.

Sophomore Charles Griffin won by fall against Columbias Steve Sutton and posted a tech fall over Harvards Thomas Picarsic in the 141-pound weight class, while sophomore Joe Rovelli recorded a pair of major decisions at 197 pounds. Juniors James Strouse (157), Chris Vondruska (165) and John Manarte (149) also earned two wins apiece.

WINNING WAYS: North Carolinas Spencer Nadolsky garnered Co-Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week after posting a 5-0 record to win the Nittany Lion Open title at 285 pounds on Dec. 4.

Nadolsky improved his season record to 19-2 while capturing his first individual title of his career. He pinned Edinboros Paul Burser in the opening round, and capped off his championship with a fall over Navys Ed Prendergast in the final. He leads the Tar Heels with nine pins on the year.

HONORED VIKING: Cleveland State senior Ron Howard was named Eastern Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week after posting seven wins over the last two weeks.

Howard recorded six victories to finish sixth at 184 pounds at the Nittany Lion Open on Dec. 4 leaving the competition with a medical forfeit. He then recorded a 6-1 win against Michigan States Joe Williams in Cleveland States 33-9 loss to the Spartans on Dec. 10. At No. 17, Williams was ranked one spot ahead of Howard. Howard is now 15-3 on the season.

100-CLUB: Senior Pete Friedl pinned Augustana Colleges Brian Kerr in 1:38 to earn the 100th victory of his career as Illinois earned a 45-0 shutout on Dec. 11. He is the second team member to reach 100 wins this month as senior Alex Tirapelle notched his 100th career victory at the Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 3.
