EVANSTON, Ill. — Wisconsin-Parkside’s Luke Rynish saw his run for the Midlands Championship at 174 pounds came up short on Friday as he dropped his semifinal match.

Rynish lost to Lee Munster, the number five seed from Northwestern 9-0. Munster sported 12-3 overall record against Division I competition coming into the match. He then fell to John Martin-Cannon from Buffalo — who was wrestling unattached — by a score of 12-6.
Rynish ended the day with a heartbreaking sudden death loss to Tanner Weatherman (who was also wrestling unattached) from Iowa State.
Rynish, who is now 23-4 on the season, will lead the Rangers into next weekend’s NWCA National Duals in Springfield, Illinois. That event will take place January 7-8.
