Concordia-Moorhead drops another
Cobbers fall to 4-6 after losing decision to DII Augustana (S.D.)
MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Augustana (S.D.), ranked No. 5 in Division II, wrapped up the non-conference portion of its dual schedule by beating Concordia-Moorhead 22-18 Sunday afternoon on the road.
Augustana improves to 8-1, while Concordia-Moorhead, which is ranked 15th in Division III, drops to 4-6.
The win was the Vikings' fourth consecutive dual triumph.
Augustana won sits bouts -- including the first four -- in its final tune up before the NSIC campaign.
The Cobbers left 125 pounds open, and Jason Jeremiason, Chism Fink and Nate Herda all rattled off victories to follow.
Jeremiason earned a 3-0 win by decision against Daron Hohbein at 133 pounds, Fink beat Michael Holman with a 13-3 major decision at 141 pounds and Herda collected a 7-4 win by decision against Kyle LeDuc at 149.
The Vikings led 16-0 after the surge.
Concordia registered a pair of victories by fall in the ensuing tilts as Jacob Long pinned Marcus Edgington at 157 pounds and Josten Coleman got Parker Swanson at 165.
Carl Serck (174) and Jayd Docken (184) responded with wins by decision against Sebastian Gardner and Christian Harrison, respectively, for the visitors.
Sean Derry (184) and Mike Roberts (285) fell in the final two bouts as Concordia-Moorhead closed the gap but couldn't quite take the lead.
